Happy National Social Work Month

Updated: Mar 21, 2020

As everyone may know, March is National Social Work Month and 2020 is a very special year for the social work community in Canada!

I am from Manitoba and the theme for the Manitoba College of Social Workers is "United By Diversity, Strengthened by Inclusion". Social Work Month and Social Work Week, which was last week, is a bit different this year due to COVID-19. This is a very uncertain time for many of us, especially social workers that are working within the field to continue to provide support to individuals who are in need and assist keeping social services afloat.

Regardless of this, I still think that it is imperative to celebrate social workers, as we rise to the occasion and work to support the province and country during this scary and uncertain time.

Thus, National Social Work Month is a time for social workers to collaborate and celebrate their commitments to strive for positive changes in the world at the micro, macro and mezzo level.
